What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the insertion of sterile hair-like needles into precise points on the body. These points are located on pathways along which your "Qi" circulates. "Qi" is your body energy or life force. Stagnant Qi results in pain or disease. When your Qi flows smoothly there is no pain or decease.
How does it work?
Modern research has shown that acupuncture needles release endorphins, increase blood cell counts, heighten the immune system, & affect hormonal activity. Acupuncture is over 2,500 years old & has flourished not only in China but also in many Asian countries & in Europe.
How does Accupuncture feel like?
Occasionally, upon insertion of the needle, the patient may feel a slight pinch which quickly diminishes. The arms, legs, back, & abdomen are less sensitive than areas that have less muscle, like the face, hands, & feet. Most patients find the treatment relaxing & virtually pain free.
Is Acupuncture Safe?
YES! Acupuncturists are licensed by the California Acupuncture Board, which is regulated by a division of the California Medical Board. The Department of Consumer Affairs & the FBI perform a background check before a candidate's application is accepted. ONLY sterile, disposable, filiform needles are used & then discarted according to OSHA protocol. |
